Susana Martins is a pediatrician and project manager whose research has focused on decision support systems for the implementation of clinical practice guidelines. She has published research on street children, decision support systems, safety during the transport of critically ill patients, and iron therapy to improve the development and functioning of young children with iron deficiency. At CHP/PCOR she is working on the Intelligent Critiquing of Clinical Guideline Application project. She previously practiced at Hospital Escola Sao Francisco de Assis, at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where she was responsible for developing and implementing an HIV prevention and treatment program. She received a master’s degree from the University of London’s Institute of Child Health, and completed a specialization in community pediatrics and public health at Oxfordshire Health in Oxford, England. She received a medical degree from the State University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and a master’s of science degree in maternal and child health from the University of London. She completed a residency in pediatrics at the Hospital dos Servidores do Estado, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and a fellowship in health services research and health policy at the University of California-San Francisco.
